The owners of this home love to entertain and wanted the house to reflect their lifestyle. Key features of this include the bespoke wine cellar. Here the design team created a spectacular glass wine wall. The oak timber cabinetry encases frameless glass shelving which can house more than 400 bottles which are perfectly temperature controlled with concealed refrigeration. The wine wall also functions as a visual screen between the formal and informal family spaces. A dramatic double volume stone clad fireplace in the formal lounge is mirrored by a built-in braai in the informal lounge. These areas of the house flow out onto the outdoor entertainment deck and infinity pool. Linked to the terrace is a sunken outdoor boma a typical South African outdoor enclosure. Here casual seating is arranged around an open fire.
A magnificent museum-quality, contemporary home with breathtaking city and ocean views extraordinary and unique find, even in Beverly Hills. A five-minute drive from the Beverly Hills Hotel, the luxurious gated property boasts 6 bedrooms, 10 baths, a soaring 36′ grand entry foyer and fully automated floor-to-ceiling glass walls that disappear at the touch of a button, seamlessly integrating approximately 15,500 sq. ft. of exquisite indoor/outdoor living. The home boasts every amenity imaginable, including a 100’ infinity-edge pool and a lavish outdoor entertaining area. Its Craftsman-quality finishes and fixtures are simply impossible to replicate, while imported materials, from the maid’s quarters to the master bedroom suite, transform the home into a modern work of art.
On the ground floor, the villa is shaped, with two wings. There are three separate storey volumes on top of main ground volume, two of which are perpendicular to it, and the third is situated at the intersection of wings (with a bit of translation). Storey volumes emphasize and cover entrances and, functionally, gather similar content. Basement, which extends under the fragment of the ground floor, contains the engine room and technology of the pool. The southwestern wing of the ground floor contains service facilities, pool area, locker rooms and entrance for guests and external visitors. The southeastern wing contains the owners’ living quarters that may be, optionally, separated or integrated through large sliding doors. The southern storey volume is a guest unit with two bedrooms and a suite. The northern storey volume is recreational, with fitness, sauna and relaxation area and the eastern storey volume is the family’s sleeping tract.
The design is both innately beautiful and functional; a concept that Shelly and Avi Osadon, the husband and wife duo behind SEE Materials and SEE Construction, flawlessly choreographed. Upon arrival, the first of a series of show-stopping moments is its impressive scale with an attention to detail that is never compromised. The grand pivot door sweeps open to reveal a 36-foot high ceiling and gleaming chandelier comprised of 25 custom, glass-blown globes. This enormous entry space offers a view through the home to the backyard in one continual gaze.
Generous overhangs, external sliding shutters and perforated steel and aluminium eaves assist with naturally shading the facades. All doors and windows have performance glazing and are mostly full height which, together with the careful arrangement of internal spaces, ensured that the magnificent views are optimised for all rooms.
