Farther inside, we find the master bedroom, where again, white is the predominant color. Used not only in its floors and walls, but also in its furniture and in the fabrics covering the bed, it adds to the luminosity in an environment that already receives a substantial amount of light from the frontal glass walls, giving it a more intense sensation of openness.
This apartment is located in Madrid, Spain, and is an excellent example of the optimization of space and power. With the idea of conserving space in mind, this remodeling project included different options of convertible pieces of furniture, in such a way that the space could be employed most efficiently.
One of the houses is organized to inhabit the soil with its habits and routines. The other was made light-heartedly, emancipated from the ground, in the air, is flying at a double height over the garden. Both are totally different each other in materiality, shape and weight.
It’s a very transient plot; it has a lot of movement. The land is at the edge of the village where housing meets the countryside. The railway lines behind the plot are a dynamic yet soothing boundary, and in front of the house there is a local access road and the lake. We wanted to create a building that reflected all that movement,’ he says.
The fluidity of the design continues inside, thanks to an open plan interior, unbroken views and reams of natural light, which streams throughout the space all day long. On the ground floor, the spacious living room transitions into a dining area and loft-style kitchen. Rather than close off individual floors, the design incorporates a double height open space that allows the eyes to travel, delivering a glimpse of the bedrooms above or, from the first floor, to the living room below.
