The ground floor is contained between two long concrete walls. These walls cut into the soil to accommodate two ‘conventional and modern’ volumes, connected by a corridor surrounding the empty greenhouse-stage. In the South there is a garden for the Good Life, to the North lurks the Grotesque Garden in the middle is the promising double height greenhouse.
It’s a very transient plot; it has a lot of movement. The land is at the edge of the village where housing meets the countryside. The railway lines behind the plot are a dynamic yet soothing boundary, and in front of the house there is a local access road and the lake. We wanted to create a building that reflected all that movement,’ he says.
Through its white staircase we reach the interior, where white colors, as well as modern and minimalist lines, are the protagonists, giving the large living room a sensation of cleanliness and brightness.
Busan City suddenly had swollen by the influx of refugees during Korea War. The refugees had built irregular shape’s homes according to the topography of mountains in Busan City in a short time. Numerous alleys has stemmed from the relations of the houses. Now, 65 years after Korea war, the irregular houses’s urban fabric becomes a unique feature of Busan City. The view suddenly appearing through alleys and houses forms a distinguish urban landscape from other cities.
The Tobogan House is a generic three-storey house on a southern slope. The project juxtaposes two houses and a void that houses a car park, an entrance and two staircases, working as a thermal regulator and constructing a tracking shot between a garden, a folie and a picturesque grotto while crossing through the lounge, sauna-fitness center, bar, dining room and kitchen.
