The design of the loft explores the modernist use of plane/volume and opaque/transparent, with the interplay of different materials. The strategy adopted, is that of a contemporary architectural intervention within an pre-existing envelope.
Internal finishes include a fully imported German kitchen, large format granite floor and wall slabs which are used throughout, frameless glazed balustrades and floor-to-ceiling glazing, as well as various aluminium louvre devices
To meet this challenge, the conventional plan and section has been radically redefined. The stair and elevator core are pushed up against the street façade, instead of running along one of the party walls. As a result, loft-like spaces run fluidly the entire length of the 38-foot-deep building, rather than being compartmentalized into small front and back rooms
